In the last month...
We tackled opinion writing, learning how to state our opinion and use compelling reasons to try to convince our readers to agree with us. We've now moved on to our second Narrative writing unit, in Camp NaNoWriMo. We had our Film Study unit. We finished Division and began working on Patterns. We finished our Social units, and our Science units (Plants and Weather). We've had two (2!) practicum students in our class (one from the University and one from the college). We started (and finished) our One District One Book event. We had our Science and Heritage Fair, book fair, and celebration of learning. Coming up, Grade 5 options forms are due on Monday, we have Grade 5 Scientists in Schools on Tuesday, as well as Student Vote, our Easter party is on Thursday, there is no school on Friday, and Easter Break goes from April 19-28. We will be continuing our Camp NaNoWriMo story writing unit into May. We'll be continuing Patterns in math, and then spend most of the rest of the year reviewing and extending the concepts we have covered. We have one more Science unit each (Lights & Shadows, and Chemistry), and one more Social unit (on Identity). We'll be finishing up our Kids in the Know units as well as our Healthy Eating unit. We also have a number of field trips coming up, so please keep an eye out for notes home about that! Thanks for reading, Mr. V
