Last week was fun, but busy. We finished our Klimt Tree of Life paintings in art. We continued learning about Nutrients in Health, and the Fur trade in Social. We started our reading groups back up, and started writing Informational Chapter books in Writers' Workshop. In Math we learned several strategies for doing Multiplication. I don't need to students to know all of the strategies -- just one, that they can use efficiently to get the correct answer. We also had the Munsch-o-rama play from New West Theatre on Friday.
This week we will finish up this section of our Social Unit. We'll have a Multiplication Check-in Quiz on Thursday. We also have the Human Sexuality lessons on Tuesday and Thursday. Thanks for reading! Mr. V Welcome Back!
I hope that everyone had an excellent break! We had a great first week back. We took it pretty easy, reviewing what we've learned so far in Math, and rebuilding some habits and expectations. In Writers' Workshop, we celebrated the first section of our Informational Writing unit with TED Talk style presentations of the students' writing pieces. These presentations were very well received, and it was cool to see what the they had to teach each other. Thanks to everyone who chose to participate! Next week we will be continuing on with the next section of the Informational Writing unit. We will begin our dedicated Multiplication and Division unit, beginning with an overview of some of the different strategies that the students may choose to use. We will be continuing with the second half of the Social units we were working on before Christmas, and in Health we will begin learning about the different nutrients and what role they play in our health. Reminders for next week:
